Hooking finally catching a break....

.... and in my hometown, no less! I knew there was a reason I got San Francisco tatted on my chest. This coming election, Proposition K will decriminalize prostitution and make it impossible for police officers to arrest hookers or their "Johns." Caution: this is not the same as legalizing prostitution, for which I am also a proponent. This just simply means that police officers, when they see "transactions" happening, simply have to turn away.

Why is this a good thing? Well, for one thing, we can start focusing on urban matters that are dangerous to people, like guns, drugs and gang violence. California still has laws established prohibiting prostitution, but if we could somehow lift that law, we could start taxing, regulating and giving health benefits to prostitutes.

And why is this a good thing? Well, just look at our economy - we need all the money we can get. Taxing prostitution is not necessarily a bad thing. And if we could regulate and monitor disease, infection rates would go down. It has been around forever and it hasn't stopped because we say that its taboo or whatnot. Its about time we moved forward, like other countries, and figure out a way to make it work, become safer, and invigorate our economy.
