2 Cents

The other day, I found my first penny heads-side up. Usually, when I find a penny, its tails-side up, which isn't good luck ... or that's what I've heard. And in doing some research (yes, because I'm that committed to inane things) I found that the luck only lasts all day. Unbeknownst to me, I've been carrying this penny all week.

What's worst is that I put the penny in my pocket, where there had already been another penny, amongst other change. When I emptied my pockets at the end of the night, with the intention of setting the first heads-up penny with my wallet to ensure that I would carry it with me every day, I found the OTHER penny, and now do not know which is which. So, for the past few days, I've been carrying two pennies with me everywhere I go. And apparently, the luck seems to be working.

Yesterday I found two jobs that sounded pretty legit - the first is with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, as a type of administrative assistant. Its work experience that most people my age already have, but that I'm severely lacking. I'm excited about it, because they called me yesterday while I was sitting at Tynan with the Linds(a/e)ys, and asked me to come in for a "writing test." Now I'm not entirely sure what that will entail, but I'm nervous and excited about it. I'll be on the hill. Tomorrow! Whoo!

The second job is with the Human Rights Campaign - its more intense with lots more responsibility, so I don't think I'm too qualified, but I sent a copy of my resume to my mother's friends, who know people within the organization. Hopefully, they can score me an interview at the least. I need more practice with this kind of stuff.

The most recent evidence that the pennies are working is a date - in the guise of a guy I have been crushing on for quite some time. We're just meeting for coffee for a bit before Lindsay's dinner, but I'm pretty excited about it. We talked on the phone last night and spoke in Spanish. He's Bolivian, tall, and very handsome.

Can't wait!
